Seattle, September 22, 2025 — The Europe Today: State President Lương Cường held talks with Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, at the company’s headquarters in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday morning (local time), as part of his bilateral engagements in the United States.
Welcoming the Vietnamese leader, Pope described his visit as a great honour, reflecting the increasingly close cooperation between Việt Nam and the US. She affirmed Boeing’s commitment to working with Vietnamese airlines to implement existing agreements, further reinforcing long-term collaboration with Vietnamese partners.
Highlighting Boeing’s strategic focus on Southeast Asia, she noted that Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, currently operates 17 Boeing aircraft, while Vietjet has signed contracts for more than 200 aircraft, with the first deliveries coinciding with President Cường’s visit.
President Cường agreed that Vietnam–US relations have grown significantly, particularly following the upgrade to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023. With Vietnam’s dynamic economy, he said, the country represents a promising market for Boeing’s advanced aircraft.
The President expressed appreciation for Boeing’s support and cooperation in recent years, welcoming the progress made in handing over new aircraft to Vietnamese airlines. He urged the company to ensure timely delivery under signed contracts, supported by effective operational and financial plans.
Commending Boeing’s global growth and technological innovation, President Cường emphasized that the company’s advanced technologies, already applied by Vietnamese firms, have enhanced efficiency, connectivity, and contributed positively to Việt Nam’s socio-economic development.
Looking ahead, he proposed that Boeing consider establishing component manufacturing facilities and a regional-scale maintenance centre in Vietnam, serving not only the domestic market but also the wider Southeast Asian region. He also encouraged Boeing to facilitate greater participation of Vietnamese enterprises in its global supply chain.
Reaffirming Vietnam’s openness to foreign investment, President Cường pledged the country’s best possible conditions, consistent with its laws, for US investors in general and Boeing in particular to operate effectively and sustainably in the Vietnamese market.
