Turkmenistan and Croatia Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation Across Multiple Sectors

Ashgabat, October 9, 2025 – The Europe Today:  A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia Gordan Grlić Radman, who arrived in Ashgabat leading a representative delegation.

During the talks, the two foreign ministers discussed the current state and prospects for developing bilateral relations across political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation and enhancing partnership between Turkmenistan and Croatia.

The ministers emphasized the key role of high-level contacts in advancing interstate relations and noted the positive momentum in diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

Particular attention was given to constructive cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations (UN), the European Union (EU), and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Minister Meredov expressed appreciation for Croatia’s consistent support for Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality status and its international initiatives aimed at promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and beyond.

Both sides identified trade and economic collaboration as a central area of partnership, discussing opportunities in shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, construction, textiles, high technology, and tourism. The ministers underlined the significance of the Turkmen-Croatian Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation in facilitating and expanding business and investment ties.

They also explored prospects for broadening the legal framework of cooperation and expressed mutual interest in strengthening engagement in education, science, and healthcare.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation was also recognized as an essential component of bilateral relations, with both parties underscoring the importance of enhancing people-to-people connections and cultural exchange programs.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a Program of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia for 2026–2027 was signed, marking a concrete step toward institutionalizing collaboration in key areas.

Later the same day, a Turkmenistan–Croatia Business Forum was held in Ashgabat, bringing together representatives from both countries’ business communities to discuss investment opportunities and avenues for expanding economic cooperation.
