Ashgabat, November 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a meeting with Faryal Leghari, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan, to discuss cooperation in the humanitarian sphere and ongoing initiatives aimed at supporting children in need of care.
Ambassador Faryal Leghari expressed sincere gratitude for the opportunity to meet and praised the Foundation’s humanitarian activities, noting that care for children—especially those requiring medical assistance and social support—is a fundamental priority for every nation. She emphasized that the Foundation’s efforts reflect the successful implementation of initiatives launched by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which continue to advance under the wise leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Oguljahan Atabayeva warmly welcomed the Pakistani diplomat, highlighting the long-standing friendly relations, shared values, and mutual trust that characterize Turkmenistan–Pakistan ties. She reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening healthcare, education, and social services for children in need of guardianship. Established in 2021 on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, the Foundation provides comprehensive support to children, including those without parental care. To date, more than 700 medical surgeries have been financed through the Foundation.
The Vice President also noted that the Foundation operates a Health and Rehabilitation Center and an inclusive kindergarten. This year alone, nearly 900 children have benefited from free medical and rehabilitation services at the Center.
During the meeting, Atabayeva announced that the International Conference titled “The Role of Women in Modern Society: Developing International Cooperation for Sustainable Development” is scheduled to take place this December in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. She expressed confidence that the event will serve as a productive platform for exchanging views on enhancing women’s role in society. Ambassador Leghari stated that Pakistan highly appreciates Turkmenistan’s efforts to promote gender equality and conveyed her best wishes for the success of the upcoming forum.
Concluding the meeting, Oguljahan Atabayeva and Ambassador Faryal Leghari expressed confidence that the continued development of bilateral cooperation in the humanitarian sphere will contribute to a sustainable and prosperous future for both nations. The two sides exchanged warm wishes, reaffirming their commitment to advancing joint humanitarian initiatives.
