Brussels, February 9, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan and the European Union have reviewed the current state of cooperation in the energy sector and discussed prospects for its further development, according to an official statement.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov, and Cristina Lobillo Borrero of the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium said on Sunday.
The talks focused on a range of key issues, including energy security, the development of sustainable infrastructure, and the implementation of the climate agenda. Both sides emphasized the importance of aligning cooperation with shared priorities in the context of evolving regional and global energy dynamics.
Turkmenistan and the European Union also confirmed their interest in maintaining regular contacts, including high-level meetings, and underscored the value of continuing an open and forward-looking dialogue.
Earlier, Turkmenistan reiterated its readiness to expand cooperation with the European Union in the fields of transport and energy, environmental protection, and the promotion of a green economy, signaling its commitment to deeper engagement with European partners.
