Ankara, March 8, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday held a telephone conversation with Nechirvan Barzani, President of Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), to discuss the latest developments in the region.
According to a statement issued by Türkiye’s Communications Directorate on the social media platform NSosyal, the two leaders exchanged views on regional security and ongoing efforts to maintain stability.
During the call, President Erdogan stated that Türkiye would continue its efforts to prevent actions that could push the region toward long-term instability and disaster. He noted that recent movements by terrorist organizations and their affiliated groups are being closely monitored.
Erdogan also emphasized that Türkiye is actively working to end regional conflicts and facilitate a return to negotiations through diplomatic channels.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of the “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in combating terrorism and promoting peace and stability in the region.
