Leyla Aliyeva Presides Over Opening of “In the footsteps of Azerbaijan’s nature” Exhibition in Baku

Baku

Baku, May 5, 2026 – The Europe Today: Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder of the IDEA Public Union, officiated the opening of the photography exhibition “In the footsteps of Azerbaijan’s nature” this Tuesday at the Seaside National Park.

The exhibition is a cornerstone of the “Explore Azerbaijan with IDEA” project, a nationwide initiative launched in 2025 to showcase the country’s ecological wealth to both local and international audiences.

Showcasing Rare Biodiversity

The open-air gallery features the work of photographer Saleh Bakhshiyev, spotlighting 30 wildlife species captured within Azerbaijan’s national parks. Significantly, the majority of the species featured are currently listed in the “Red Book” of Azerbaijan, highlighting the urgency of conservation efforts.

Organized through a partnership between the IDEA Public Union, the Seaside Boulevard Department, and Baku Zoological Park, the exhibition serves several key purposes:

  • Multimedia Documentation: Contributing to a comprehensive database of Azerbaijan’s unique flora and fauna.
  • Public Engagement: Inviting residents and tourists to discover rare photography throughout the month.
  • Conservation Advocacy: Acting as a formal call to protect the natural environment for future generations.

Project Mission and Digital Presence

Initiated by Leyla Aliyeva, the project blends educational outreach with visual storytelling. Beyond the physical exhibition at the Seaside National Park, the initiative maintains an active digital footprint to engage a global audience.
