Rabat, May 19, 2026 – The Europe Today: Morocco and Liberia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral security cooperation and enhancing coordination in combating transnational crime and terrorism.
The agreement was signed by Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of the General Directorate of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), and Gregory Coleman during the 7th Open Days of National Security held in Rabat.
The event, organised by the General Directorate of National Security, coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the DGSN and will continue until May 22.
According to a statement issued by DGSN, the cooperation agreement reflects the shared commitment of both countries to strengthen friendship and operational partnership, based on the belief that security cooperation is a key pillar for solidarity and collective security.
The MoU establishes a framework for police cooperation to combat various forms of transnational crime, including terrorism and violent extremism.
Under the agreement, both sides will enhance cooperation in information exchange, technical assistance, operational coordination, and capacity building for security personnel. The partnership will also expand police collaboration in migration management and border security.
In addition, the agreement covers forensic and technical police work, police training programmes, and the development of advanced training methods aimed at strengthening law enforcement capabilities.
The agreement aligns with DGSN’s broader strategy of strengthening cooperation with regional and international partners in support of South-South cooperation and regional stability.
Liberia and Morocco maintain strong diplomatic relations and continue to expand cooperation across several strategic sectors, including agriculture and security.
Liberia is also among the countries supporting Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces in Western Sahara.
