Washington, May 30, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across political, economic, energy, and security domains during a high-level meeting held at the White House on May 29, 2026.
Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to review the current state of Turkmen-American relations and explore future prospects for cooperation.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the recent intensification of political and diplomatic dialogue and emphasized the importance of maintaining regular contacts at both high and highest levels to further strengthen bilateral engagement.
The discussions placed particular focus on expanding cooperation in trade and economic relations, energy, and transport and communications. The two sides underscored the importance of developing mutually beneficial partnerships, including enhanced cooperation on energy security and diversification of energy supply routes.
Regional security issues were also addressed during the meeting, alongside efforts to counter contemporary global challenges and threats. The interlocutors highlighted the importance of continued coordination within multilateral frameworks, including the C5+1 platform, which brings together the United States and Central Asian countries.
Both parties noted the significant untapped potential in Turkmen-American relations and reaffirmed their mutual interest in sustaining constructive dialogue and advancing cooperation across all areas of shared concern.
