Islamabad, June 15, 2026 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday announced that Pakistan would host the historic signing ceremony of the United States–Iran peace agreement in Geneva on June 19, describing the accord as a “monumental milestone” for global peace and a decisive triumph of dialogue over war.
Addressing the National Assembly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the agreement represented a turning point in international diplomacy, adding that “the pursuit of peace has achieved a great victory and the flames of war have begun to subside.” He remarked that the development would be recorded by historians “in golden letters,” calling it a defining moment for global stability.
The Prime Minister said the agreement between the United States and Iran includes the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. He termed the deal “not just an agreement between two nations, but a victory for peace, dialogue, and diplomacy over destruction.”
He also expressed gratitude to global and regional leaders, including Donald Trump, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Xi Jinping, and Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Iranian leadership including Masoud Pezeshkian and Mojtaba Khamenei, for their constructive role in facilitating negotiations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended special appreciation to Pakistan’s political leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, for their support during the diplomatic process.
He particularly praised the role of Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, stating that his steadfast commitment played a key role during critical phases of negotiations, ensuring progress when talks appeared to stall.
The Prime Minister also commended Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their dedicated efforts in advancing the diplomatic initiative.
He further stated that the government would ensure the benefits of global economic stability emerging from the peace accord would reach the people of Pakistan, reaffirming commitment to national economic resilience and development.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concluded by urging the nation to offer prayers of gratitude for what he described as an unprecedented honour for Pakistan on the global stage.
