President Rahmon, Green Climate Fund Chief Discuss Expanding Climate Cooperation

Dushanbe, July 2, 2026 – The Europe Today: President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon on Tuesday received Executive Director of the Green Climate Fund, Mafalda Duarte, to discuss bilateral cooperation and preparations for the 45th meeting of the Fund’s Board of Governors, which will be held in Dushanbe.

During the meeting, President Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the growing and productive partnership between Tajikistan and the Green Climate Fund, noting that cooperation continues to develop successfully.

The discussions focused on addressing the impacts of climate change, preserving glaciers in mountainous regions, improving water resource management, and strengthening disaster risk reduction measures.

Both sides also welcomed the approval of the Green Climate Fund’s Country Investment Program for Tajikistan, as well as the launch of the new regional initiative, “From Glaciers to Farmers,” aimed at enhancing climate resilience across the region.

The meeting further covered opportunities for cooperation in the energy and agriculture sectors, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to expanding collaboration across all areas of mutual interest.
