Ashgabat, June 03, 2024, The Europe Today: Yesterday, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Armenia, in collaboration with the Yerevan City Hall, organized a bike ride to commemorate World Bicycle Day, celebrated globally on June 3.
The bicycle march took place along one of the central avenues of Yerevan and saw participation from heads and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and their family members, members of the Armenian Cycling Federation, athletes, and residents of the capital.
At the opening ceremony, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia, Muhammetgeldi Ayazov, highlighted the significance of the UN General Assembly Resolution, adopted at the initiative of Turkmenistan, which established World Bicycle Day. He also underscored Turkmenistan’s leading role in promoting cycling.
Ambassador Ayazov emphasized the numerous health benefits of cycling, including improved sleep quality, accelerated metabolism, enhanced immunity, muscle tone maintenance, stress reduction, better brain function, and a lower risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Participants were also informed about Turkmenistan’s state policy in the field of sports and its commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle through activities such as cycling.
The event, as reported by the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age,” aimed to foster international solidarity and encourage a healthy, active lifestyle among the residents of Yerevan.
