Azerbaijan and Georgia Strengthen Prosecutorial Cooperation Ahead of Major International Conferences

Baku, October 01, 2024 – The Europe Today: reports that Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with a Georgian delegation led by Prosecutor General Giorgi Gabitashvili. During the meeting, Aliyev highlighted the significance of the discussions held at the 27th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) in Tbilisi, emphasizing the positive influence these discussions had on strengthening cooperation between the prosecutorial bodies of Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Kamran Aliyev also remarked on the upcoming 29th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the IAP, set to take place in Baku, and its potential to further enhance the relationship between both countries’ prosecution services.

In addition, Aliyev underscored the importance of Azerbaijan hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, noting its critical role in addressing global environmental challenges.

Gabitashvili, in turn, praised the reforms introduced within Azerbaijan’s prosecutorial bodies and the robust collaboration between the two nations.

The meeting concluded with Kamran Aliyev extending an invitation to Gabitashvili to attend a high-level plenary session in Baku on November 15, organized in cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
