Delaware, October 28, 2024 – The Europe Today: In an early voting move for the 2024 election, President Joe Biden cast his ballot on Monday at a Department of Election facility in New Castle, Delaware, accompanied by a group of first-time voters. Arriving shortly after 11:45 a.m. ET, the President joined a line of over 100 people waiting to cast their ballots, spending approximately 40 minutes in line and engaging with fellow voters, according to White House officials and reporters on site.
Reflecting on the moment as he left the polling site, Biden was asked if the experience was bittersweet. “This is sweet,” he remarked, demonstrating his satisfaction with the moment.
Reporters also asked Biden about his confidence in Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign as she prepares to face former President Donald Trump next week. Biden responded optimistically, saying, “I think we will” prevail in the election. This affirmation comes nearly three months after Biden announced his withdrawal from the race following a challenging debate with Trump, endorsing Harris as the Democratic nominee shortly afterward.
Commenting on Trump’s recent campaign rally in Madison Square Garden, Biden was candid, calling it “simply embarrassing” and “beneath any president.” Biden remarked, “That’s why this election is so important,” adding that character remains the defining quality of a president, and Trump’s conduct “puts that in question every time he opens his mouth.”
Ahead of his early vote, Biden met with Delaware Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester, who is running for a U.S. Senate seat.
