President Tokayev’s State Visit to Hungary Paves Way for Enhanced Bilateral Cooperation

Budapest, November 21, 2024 — The Europe Today: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev concluded a significant state visit to Hungary, marked by high-level discussions with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and other key Hungarian leaders. The talks were conducted in a warm and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the mutual trust and strong partnership between the two nations, according to media reports.

During his meeting with Prime Minister Orbán, President Tokayev emphasized Hungary’s role as Kazakhstan’s reliable strategic partner within the European Union, describing it as a “friendly and fraternal country.” The leaders discussed a wide array of bilateral cooperation initiatives, focusing on enhancing ties in energy, transport, and logistics. President Tokayev highlighted the importance of fostering joint projects in key sectors, including oil and gas, agriculture, nuclear power, logistics, and finance.

Both sides reaffirmed their governments’ commitment to creating favorable conditions for the successful implementation of these initiatives. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues, with President Tokayev commending Prime Minister Orbán’s contributions to strengthening the Organization of Turkic States on the global stage.

In addition to the high-level talks, President Tokayev participated in the Kazakhstan-Hungary Investment Roundtable, aimed at boosting economic collaboration between the two nations. He also engaged with Hungarian President Tamás Sulyok during a working dinner and held discussions with National Assembly Speaker László Kövér.

The state visit, which included an official welcome ceremony, underscored the mutual commitment of Kazakhstan and Hungary to deepening their strategic partnership. New opportunities for collaboration were identified, reflecting the shared vision for advancing bilateral ties in diverse sectors.
