Beijing, November 26, 2024 – The Europe Today: Premier Li Qiang pledged China’s continued efforts to ensure stable and efficient global industrial and supply chains during a symposium on Monday, held ahead of the second China International Supply Chain Expo.
Attending the event were representatives from prominent enterprises and organizations, including Apple Inc., Rio Tinto, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd., and the US-China Business Council. The representatives voiced confidence in the Chinese economy, emphasizing the significant potential of the Chinese market. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding investments, strengthening supply chain cooperation, and achieving mutual benefits within China.
Premier Li highlighted the transformative impact of economic globalization on industrial and supply chains over recent decades, underscoring their role in fueling global economic growth and shared prosperity. However, he expressed concern over rising protectionism and security-driven policies disrupting these critical systems, increasing costs, and stalling development.
“Firm efforts are needed to safeguard stable and unimpeded global industrial and supply chains, protecting the common interests of all parties,” Li stated.
He noted China’s steady economic growth and pledged enhanced counter-cyclical adjustments to sustain sound development. Li outlined key priorities for China, including:
- Modernizing the Industrial System: Accelerating efforts to build a robust industrial framework that supports efficient global supply chains.
- Integrating Technology and Industry: Promoting collaboration between technological innovation and industrial growth while participating in international innovation initiatives.
- Expanding Market Access: Committing to high-standard economic openness and welcoming increased participation from foreign enterprises in industrial cooperation.
Li also urged global enterprises to champion economic globalization, deepen international labor division and cooperation, and work collectively to enhance the dynamism, resilience, and efficiency of global supply chains.
The symposium highlighted China’s pivotal role in global supply chain operations and its ongoing efforts to foster a cooperative and open environment for multinational enterprises.
