Beijing, December 5, 2024 – The Europe Today: Beijing recently hosted the grand opening of the “Year of Tourism of Uzbekistan in China,” an event supported by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China, the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, and the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). The ceremony attracted representatives from Chinese ministries, major travel companies, cultural organizations, journalists, and bloggers, all gathering to celebrate and explore Uzbekistan’s tourism offerings.
The event provided attendees with detailed information on the recent reforms in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, highlighting the creation of favorable conditions for foreign tourists and the country’s growing tourism potential.
In his speech, Mr. Lu Yingchuan, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, emphasized Uzbekistan’s rising popularity as a travel destination for Chinese citizens. UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili also praised Uzbekistan’s high tourism potential and reiterated the organization’s commitment to furthering collaboration with Uzbekistan in tourism development.
The event featured a business forum focused on tourism and investment, which included presentations and B2B meetings aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries. Guests were treated to a vibrant cultural program, with performances of traditional Uzbek songs and dances, as well as a sampling of authentic Uzbek cuisine.
Throughout the “Year of Tourism of Uzbekistan in China,” a series of cultural, tourist, and economic events will be held in major Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Tianjin, Shenzhen, and Chengdu. Special media reports will also be published in Chinese outlets to showcase Uzbekistan’s rich cultural heritage and diverse tourism opportunities, further boosting its appeal to Chinese travelers.
