Tashkent, December 18, 2024 – The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a telephone conversation on December 17, focusing on the practical implementation of high-level agreements and advancing investment projects between the two nations.
President Mirziyoyev extended warm congratulations to the Amir of Qatar on the occasion of the country’s national holiday, the Foundation Day of the State, expressing heartfelt wishes for his health, well-being, and success, alongside peace and prosperity for the people of Qatar.
Strengthening Strategic Partnership
The two leaders reviewed current initiatives to enhance multifaceted cooperation and solidify the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Qatar. Both parties positively assessed the outcomes of recent engagements, including the inaugural meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and a business forum held in Doha in November. These events have fostered dynamic bilateral exchanges and laid the groundwork for further collaboration.
Notably, the Qatar Culture Week, organized in Tashkent in October, was hailed as a success in promoting cultural understanding and strengthening ties.
Advancing Investment Projects
Discussions highlighted ongoing investment projects involving leading Qatari companies in critical sectors such as energy, transport, tourism infrastructure, agriculture, and healthcare. These initiatives reflect the shared commitment to economic growth and sustainable development.
The establishment of regular direct flights between Tashkent and Doha was also acknowledged as a significant step, facilitating increased tourism and people-to-people exchanges.
