Islamabad, February 7, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Institute of Regional Studies Islamabad (IRSI) hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Ambassadorial Dialogue on Regional Cooperation” on February 6, 2025. The event featured prominent speakers, including Senator Mushahid Hussain, IRSI President Jafar Saleem, and ambassadors from Central Asia and Azerbaijan, who focused on Turkmenistan’s contributions to regional cooperation, as reported by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan.
At the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, Atajan Movlamov, highlighted key energy projects that are central to regional collaboration, including the Trans-Afghan Pipeline (TAPI) and the Trans-Anatolian Pipeline (TAP). Movlamov specifically emphasized the ongoing construction of the Serhetabat-Herat segment of the TAPI pipeline, stressing that these initiatives are crucial for enhancing energy security, stimulating economic development, creating jobs, and having a positive impact on the environment.
The Ambassador also referenced the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution designating 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, a recognition of Turkmenistan’s efforts to foster international cooperation and peace.
During the roundtable, participants engaged in discussions on strengthening political ties, expanding trade, enhancing energy cooperation, and fostering cultural diplomacy. Additionally, the conversation addressed the critical issue of climate change resilience and the need for collective efforts to maintain peace and trust amid evolving international relations. The event underscored the importance of regional cooperation in ensuring sustainable progress and stability across Central Asia and beyond.
