Baku, June 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning to its citizens regarding growing security risks in conflict-affected regions, citing escalating geopolitical tensions and ongoing armed conflicts in various parts of the world, including Ukraine and the Middle East.
In a statement, the ministry said the current international security environment remains highly unstable, with increasing geopolitical tensions posing serious challenges to international peace and security.
The ministry noted that several Azerbaijani citizens have recently been killed or injured in conflict zones as a result of armed clashes and military operations, underscoring the dangers associated with travel to such areas.
“Such incidents once again demonstrate that security risks in and near conflict zones are extremely high and pose serious threats to the lives and health of our citizens who travel to or operate in those regions,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry urged Azerbaijani citizens to carefully evaluate security conditions before traveling abroad, closely follow official advisories and recommendations, and refrain from visiting areas where armed conflicts or military operations are taking place.
The ministry also reminded citizens that participation in armed conflicts or military activities on the territory of foreign countries, whether as mercenaries or on a voluntary basis, is subject to criminal liability under Azerbaijani legislation.
“At the same time, diplomatic missions and consulates of the Republic of Azerbaijan continue their activities aimed at protecting the rights and interests of our citizens abroad,” the statement added.
Emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility, the ministry called on citizens to exercise caution, prioritize their safety, and avoid high-risk activities in regions affected by instability and conflict.
