President Erdogan Approves Intergovernmental Migration Cooperation Agreement with Azerbaijan

Ankara, February 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has officially approved an intergovernmental agreement on migration cooperation with Azerbaijan, marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral relations in managing migration issues.

The agreement, published in Resmi Gazete, the official government newspaper, outlines several key areas of collaboration between the two nations. Central to the agreement is a joint commitment to combat illegal migration, enhancing border control measures, and ensuring the protection of migrants’ rights.

The agreement was signed on June 6, 2024, in Ankara, with Vusal Huseynov, Chief of Azerbaijan’s State Migration Service, and Atilla Toros, President of the Presidency of Migration Management under Turkey’s Ministry of Interior, signing on behalf of their respective governments.

This new initiative underscores the growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in addressing shared challenges related to migration, security, and border management.
