Uzbekistan and Georgia Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation During High-Level Meeting

Tashkent, March 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: A high-level meeting was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan with members of the Georgian delegation led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The discussions underscored the commitment of both nations to further deepen their strategic partnership across multiple sectors.

Senate Speaker Tanzila Narbayeva emphasized that the visit by the Georgian delegation provides a significant opportunity to open a new chapter in Uzbekistan-Georgia relations. The meeting focused on expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, transport and logistics, tourism, and cultural exchanges.

Both parties expressed satisfaction with the increasing engagement at parliamentary and governmental levels. Notably, in 2024, mutual trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Georgia grew by 50 percent, accompanied by a rise in joint ventures and cargo turnover. The establishment of direct flights between the capitals has further facilitated connectivity. Additionally, Uzbekistan now hosts a digital bank developed with the participation of Georgian investors, signifying growing financial collaboration.

In the cultural and humanitarian spheres, the successful organization of Uzbek Culture and Cinema Days in Tbilisi last year was highlighted as a key milestone in fostering people-to-people ties. The meeting also praised the productive outcomes of the recent session of the Intergovernmental Commission held in Tashkent.

The discussions underscored the importance of coordinated measures to sustain the momentum in trade turnover, ensure balanced exports and imports, promote industrial cooperation projects, and effectively utilize transport and transit potential. Both sides acknowledged the need for greater involvement of regional economies in economic cooperation and highlighted the significance of digitalization and tourism infrastructure development as priority areas for future collaboration.

An agreement was reached to enhance close cooperation at the governmental level to ensure the practical implementation of the agreements discussed. This meeting reaffirms the shared commitment of Uzbekistan and Georgia to strengthening bilateral ties and fostering a dynamic partnership that benefits both nations.
