Indonesia and Jordan Sign MoU on Agricultural Cooperation and Technology Transfer

Jakarta, April 15, 2025 — The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Indonesia and Jordan aimed at enhancing cooperation in the agricultural sector through knowledge exchange and technology transfer. The agreement was formalized during his official visit to Amman on Monday (April 14).

“Jordan wields cutting-edge technology in the field of agriculture, and we are keen to learn from them. I brought the agriculture minister on this visit, and I hope concrete actions will follow all the things we discussed,” President Prabowo stated following his meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan at Al Husseiniya Palace.

The bilateral meeting between the two heads of state culminated in the signing of three MoUs and a defense agreement, witnessed by both leaders and signed by the respective ministers.

Among the key agreements was the MoU on agricultural cooperation, signed by Indonesian Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman and Jordanian Minister of Agriculture Khaled Musa Al Henefat. Prior to the signing, the two ministers convened for a preliminary discussion to explore mutual opportunities to advance their countries’ agricultural capabilities.

“Indonesia is ready to share its experiences and strengthen its relations with Jordan to improve the agriculture sectors of both nations,” Minister Sulaiman said in a statement issued in Jakarta on Tuesday.

During their discussion, the two ministers exchanged views on enhancing bilateral trade in agricultural commodities and explored potential collaborations in innovative agricultural practices aimed at strengthening food security in both countries.

“This meeting marks the first step towards stronger collaboration, which is expected to bring tangible benefits to farmers and contribute positively to food security in both countries,” Sulaiman noted.

Minister Al Henefat expressed keen interest in Indonesia’s best practices and agricultural strengths. In response, Minister Sulaiman extended an invitation for a Jordanian delegation to visit Indonesia for continued dialogue and exploration of cooperative initiatives.

The agreements reflect both countries’ commitment to advancing agricultural development through shared expertise and collaborative innovation, in alignment with broader efforts to achieve sustainable food systems and improve livelihoods for farming communities.
