UAE Foreign Minister to Arrive in Pakistan for Two-Day Official Visit to Bolster Bilateral Ties

Islamabad, April 20, 2025 – The Europe Today: United Arab Emirates Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan is arriving in Pakistan today (Sunday) for a two-day official visit, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts to deepen bilateral relations between the two nations, described by officials as “deep-rooted and brotherly,” media reported.

During his stay, Sheikh Abdullah will hold comprehensive discussions with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The talks will cover a broad spectrum of areas, including trade and investment, energy cooperation, regional security, and enhanced people-to-people exchanges.

The Emirati minister is also scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting is expected to reaffirm the two countries’ shared commitment to regional peace, economic development, and strategic cooperation.

“This high-level visit reflects the shared desire to strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest,” the Foreign Office said, noting that regional and global developments will also be on the agenda.

The UAE remains one of Pakistan’s leading trade partners in the Gulf region. Officials believe this visit will serve to advance fresh opportunities for economic collaboration and strategic alignment, especially in light of recent agreements between the two countries.

In February, during the visit of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to Islamabad, the two sides signed a series of accords across key sectors such as mining, banking, railways, and infrastructure. These agreements were seen as an important step toward enhancing long-term bilateral economic cooperation.

Earlier in January last year, both countries concluded deals worth over $3 billion, focusing on railway development, economic zones, and large-scale infrastructure projects, underscoring the depth and scope of UAE-Pakistan strategic engagement.

The current visit by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed is expected to further consolidate these gains, and pave the way for new initiatives in trade, development, and regional stability.
