Jakarta, December 12, 2025 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto secured a series of agreements in health, agriculture, and technology during a brief diplomatic trip to Pakistan and Russia this week, officials confirmed Friday.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the visit followed President Prabowo’s inspection of flood-affected Aceh earlier in the week. The overseas agenda concluded on December 10 before his return to Indonesia.
In Islamabad, President Prabowo was warmly received by both Pakistan’s president and prime minister and conducted a series of high-level meetings. The discussions resulted in seven new cooperation agreements covering health, agriculture, trade, the economy, research, science, and technology, Teddy added.
A major focus of the trip was addressing Indonesia’s acute shortage of medical professionals. Health Ministry data indicate the country lacks approximately 150,000 general practitioners, specialists, and dentists. “He wants to immediately establish dozens of new medical faculties, with at least one medical school in every province,” Teddy said. Pakistan reportedly expressed readiness to support this initiative.
In Moscow, President Prabowo held a three-hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in agriculture, research, technology, and technology transfer. Several “highly important” agreements were reached, though specific details have not yet been disclosed.
After completing his foreign visits, President Prabowo departed for Indonesia on a 13-hour flight. He is scheduled to return to Aceh for a third inspection visit and continue assessments in North and West Sumatra to oversee ongoing post-disaster recovery efforts.
