Baku, April 30, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan and Colombia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, following high-level talks held in Baku on April 29.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with a Colombian delegation led by Juana Castro Santamaría, Deputy Foreign Minister of Colombia, to review the current state of relations and explore future opportunities for collaboration.

The discussions focused on enhancing political dialogue and boosting economic and trade ties, alongside expanding cooperation in tourism, visa facilitation, education, culture, humanitarian affairs, student exchanges, and inter-parliamentary relations. The growing interest in Spanish language programmes in Azerbaijan was also welcomed.

During the meeting, Azerbaijan’s role on the global stage, including its hosting of COP29 and active participation in international platforms, was highly commended by the Colombian side.

Both parties also exchanged views on strengthening coordination within multilateral frameworks and reaffirmed their commitment to mutual support in international organisations.

The importance of cooperation in demining activities was highlighted, with both countries recognising the challenges posed by landmines and the need for joint efforts in this area.

On the same day, a new round of Azerbaijan–Colombia political consultations was held, co-chaired by Deputy Foreign Ministers Elnur Mammadov and Juana Castro Santamaría, focusing on advancing bilateral engagement and identifying new avenues for partnership.

The meeting underscores the growing momentum in Azerbaijan–Colombia relations and their shared intent to deepen cooperation across diplomatic, economic, and humanitarian spheres.
