Islamabad, June 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: Cuban Ambassador to Pakistan, Damián Cordero Torres, paid a courtesy call on Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev at the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, where the two diplomats discussed matters of mutual interest and reaffirmed the friendly ties between their countries.
According to a statement, the meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the longstanding diplomatic relations between Cuba and Russia.
During the meeting, Ambassador Cordero Torres conveyed his condolences over the civilian casualties resulting from the recent drone attack on the Russian capital. He also expressed hope for a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Cuban envoy thanked Russia for its continued solidarity with Cuba and its support amid what Havana describes as the United States’ economic and energy blockade, as well as the tightening of unilateral coercive measures against the island nation.
For his part, Ambassador Khorev appreciated the Cuban diplomat’s visit and gesture of solidarity. He reiterated Russia’s steadfast support for Cuba and expressed confidence in the country’s resilience and ability to overcome current challenges.
The meeting formed part of the Cuban Embassy’s ongoing engagement with members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Pakistan, aimed at strengthening diplomatic dialogue and international cooperation.
