Astana, October 4, 2024 – The Europe Today: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan welcomed the heads of delegations attending the 55th sitting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Services from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states. The meeting took place under the framework of strengthening regional security and cooperation, according to the report of the News Hub Consultants.
In his address, President Tokayev highlighted the importance of the Council as a platform for coordinating security efforts among CIS nations, particularly emphasizing the growing role of the Council in the face of present-day global challenges. He expressed confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would further enhance collaboration between the security services of CIS countries and contribute to reinforcing international security measures.
Delegations from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, along with representatives from the CIS Executive Committee and the Anti-Terrorism Center, were in attendance at the high-level gathering.
This marks a continuation of joint security efforts, following the 54th meeting held in Bishkek last May. The gathering underscores the commitment of CIS members to deepening cooperation in addressing regional security concerns and countering emerging threats.
