Ashgabat, January 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: On behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, visited the US Embassy in Ashgabat to leave a note in the book of condolences, expressing sorrow over the death of former US President Jimmy Carter.
January 9th has been declared a day of national mourning in the United States in honor of Carter, with a state funeral being held today in Washington.
As a mark of respect, US flags will be flown at half-mast for 30 days at state institutions domestically and internationally, including at diplomatic missions.
Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. He served as President from 1977 to 1981, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and service.
The US Embassy in Ashgabat extended its gratitude through social media to everyone who visited the embassy during the week and paid tribute to the late President Carter.
