Ankara, February 7, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, presented a specially designed plaquette to Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Rashad Mammadov, in recognition of Azerbaijan’s significant contributions to mitigating the effects of the devastating February 6, 2023, earthquakes. The presentation took place during a commemoration event held in Adıyaman province, marking the second anniversary of the tragedy that claimed over 53,000 lives in Türkiye.
The plaque, shaped like the Turkish carnation, was awarded in acknowledgment of the solidarity, support, and sacrifice displayed by Azerbaijan during Türkiye’s time of crisis. The inscription on the plaquette reads:
“The exemplary solidarity, support, and sacrifice shown amid the disaster of the century will forever remain in our memory and will become a source of inspiration for new generations of citizens, who are the guarantors of our country’s future.”
Ambassador Mammadov was the first recipient of the award, a recognition bestowed in honor of Azerbaijan’s unwavering assistance.
In his remarks, President Erdoğan extended a heartfelt message, stating, “The first plaquette is presented to the brotherly Azerbaijan! Please, extend my warmest greetings to my brother, Ilham Aliyev.” He expressed profound gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for his leadership and support, conveying his thanks both personally and on behalf of the entire Turkish nation.
