Khankendi, October 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: The 3rd Azerbaijan National Urban Forum has officially commenced in Khankendi under the theme “Towards Climate-Resilient and Healthy Cities: Regional Partnerships and Innovative Solutions.” The event is organized in partnership with the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) and the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan.
The three-day Forum is expected to host nearly 400 participants from around 60 countries, including representatives from government and private sector institutions, international organizations, academic institutions, and civil society.
The Forum provides a platform for local and international experts to address key challenges and opportunities in urban development. Topics on the agenda include post-conflict and disaster-resilient recovery, housing and living conditions, sustainable and healthy urban environments, ecological and energy-efficient practices, digitalization and innovative solutions, the Sustainable Development Goals, the New Urban Agenda, and strengthening regional and international partnerships.
Participants will also be introduced to Azerbaijan’s large-scale reconstruction and development projects in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, showcasing modern urban planning standards, innovative technologies, and achievements in the post-conflict period. Leading practices from other countries will further enhance discussions, supported by insights from prominent academic researchers to foster evidence-based decision-making for sustainable urban development.
The Forum is scheduled to conclude in Baku on October 17, 2025.
