Baku, December 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: On December 16, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Igor Babushkin, Governor of Astrakhan Oblast of the Russian Federation, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The leaders highlighted the productive cooperation between Azerbaijan and various regions of the Russian Federation, including Astrakhan Oblast, and emphasized the significant potential for expanding collaboration in economic, trade, and investment sectors, as well as in transport-logistics, cultural-humanitarian, and educational fields.
During the meeting, the construction of a kindergarten in the Gubadli district, funded by Astrakhan Oblast, was discussed. The officials also addressed developments concerning the North-South International Transport Corridor and expressed concerns over the shallowness of the Caspian Sea, underlining the importance of joint efforts in addressing regional environmental and logistical challenges.
