Ashgabat, March 5, 2026 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan has opened its state border to facilitate the safe transit of foreign citizens leaving Iran, enabling several countries to evacuate their nationals amid the evolving regional situation.
According to reports from the foreign ministries and media outlets of the countries involved, Turkmen authorities coordinated closely with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, China, and South Korea to organize the evacuation process.
Since March 2, 2026, several key crossing points along the Turkmen-Iran border have resumed operations. These include the Gaudan–Bajgiran, Artyk–Lutfabad, Akyaýla–Incheburun, Altyn Asyr–Incheburun, and Sarakhs border crossings.
Available data indicates that multiple foreign nationals have already been evacuated through these routes, including 13 citizens of Uzbekistan, 15 citizens of Kazakhstan, 23 citizens of South Korea, eight citizens of Russia, and 25 citizens of China.
Turkmen authorities are providing logistical and organizational support to ensure the safe and efficient movement of foreign citizens transiting through the country as part of the evacuation efforts.
