Azerbaijan Continues Great Return Program with New Family Resettlement to Khankendi

Baku, June 19, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan has launched another phase of its Great Return program, facilitating the resettlement of families to the city of Khankendi in accordance with the directives of President Ilham Aliyev.

According to official information, the latest phase of the initiative saw the relocation of 18 families, comprising a total of 68 individuals, to Khankendi city.

The Great Return program is a key government initiative aimed at enabling the voluntary and sustainable return of former internally displaced persons to their native areas, while supporting reconstruction, economic development, and the restoration of normal life in the liberated territories.

Authorities stated that comprehensive efforts are continuing to improve living conditions, expand infrastructure, and provide essential services for returning residents as part of the broader rehabilitation and development process in the region.

The latest resettlement marks another step in Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the return of citizens to their ancestral homes and promote long-term stability and development in the country’s liberated territories.
