Ashgabat, August 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Chairman of the Japanese-Turkmen Committee on Economic Cooperation Hiroyuki Tsubai held talks via videoconference on August 26 to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral economic cooperation.
The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming joint meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation.
The sides reviewed current and prospective projects in several priority areas, including the gas chemical industry, transport, the circular economy and other sectors of mutual interest.
The participants also discussed the main items of the agenda and the programme of work for the forthcoming joint meeting of the economic cooperation committees.
The two sides reached agreements on preparations for bilateral documents scheduled to be signed following the meeting, underscoring their commitment to further strengthening economic ties and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
The talks formed part of ongoing efforts by Turkmenistan and Japan to promote bilateral economic relations and advance practical cooperation in key sectors.
