Astana, July 25, 2024, The Europe Today: Kazatomprom, Kazakhstan’s national uranium company, has announced the discovery of substantial uranium resources in the Vostochny block of the Zhalpak deposit (East Zhalpak block) in Turkestan region. The geological studies, conducted as part of the state subsoil geological survey program using Kazatomprom’s own funds, have revealed P1 and P2 category uranium resources.
Discovery and Preliminary Estimates
According to Kazakhstani media, preliminary estimates indicate inferred resources amounting to up to 30,000 tons of uranium. The feasibility of further exploration work has been confirmed, aiming to convert these resources into C2 and C1 reserve categories. This conversion will result in updated uranium reserves data for the block.
Future Exploration Plans
As part of its program to replenish uranium resources, Kazatomprom plans to conduct exploration work over the next six years. Following this period, the company will register the estimated uranium reserves with the state balance.
