Red Hearts Foundation Launches “Zero Waste” Solidarity Marathon on Caspian Day to Mark Kapital Bank’s 150th Anniversary

Lankaran, August 13, 2024, The Europe Today: Yesterday, in celebration of Caspian Day and the 150th anniversary of Kapital Bank, the Red Hearts Foundation inaugurated the “Zero Waste” Solidarity Marathon, a significant environmental initiative held in Lankaran. The event, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Kapital Bank, underscored a collective commitment to environmental stewardship.

The marathon saw the participation of 70 dedicated volunteers from Kapital Bank’s branch networks across the Lankaran-Astara economic regions. Together, they undertook a comprehensive cleanup operation along the coastal areas of the Caspian Sea, successfully removing 628 kilograms of plastic and other household waste. The project not only improved the environmental conditions of the area but also demonstrated the power of community action in protecting natural habitats.

The “Zero Waste” Marathon aimed to foster a greater sense of environmental responsibility within the community, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural spaces, including sea shores, mountains, and forests. Through this initiative, organizers sought to raise awareness about the critical need for environmental conservation.

Yusif Poladov, President of the Red Hearts Foundation, expressed his deep appreciation for the volunteers’ efforts and called for continued dedication to environmental initiatives. “These efforts must be sustained. For the sake of our world and future generations, we need collective action for a healthy future. Our Foundation is committed to supporting all such projects and urges everyone to contribute to environmental protection, recognizing their own responsibilities,” Poladov stated.

August 12 also holds historical significance as it marks the anniversary of the Framework Convention on the Protection of the Caspian Sea Environment, which came into effect in 2006. Celebrated annually as “Caspian Day,” this day commemorates the first legal agreement among Caspian littoral states aimed at safeguarding the region’s environment.

The “Zero Waste” Solidarity Marathon serves as a reminder of the ongoing need to protect our natural environment and highlights the critical role that community-led initiatives play in this endeavor.
