Tashkent, November 26, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the latest developments in Uzbekistan’s automotive sector and strategic goals for 2025. Currently contributing 10 percent to the nation’s industrial output, the sector produced 338,000 vehicles over the past ten months. Localization efforts saw the production of 1,400 component types, while economic measures reduced industry costs by 4 percent. Exports during this period totaled $455 million.
The Chairperson of JSC Uzavtosanoat outlined plans to produce 450,000 vehicles in 2025 and raise export revenues to $700 million. Strengthening partnerships with regional enterprises and increasing localization remain key priorities. Among upcoming initiatives, 63 projects valued at $325 million will focus on manufacturing 700 new vehicle parts to bolster domestic production.
A notable highlight of the briefing was the electric vehicle plant in Jizzakh, established in collaboration with BYD. Currently producing models like the Chazor and Song Plus Champion, the facility plans to expand its offerings significantly. In its second phase, with an investment of $300 million, annual production capacity will rise to 200,000 electric vehicles, and in the third phase, to 500,000.
President Mirziyoyev instructed officials to coordinate with Chinese partners to build additional capacities and accelerate the development of components and spare parts for electric vehicles. He also emphasized fostering cooperation to generate orders for domestic enterprises, ensuring the automotive industry continues to drive economic growth and technological innovation.
