Namangan, November 27, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev presided over a pivotal meeting focused on enhancing the investment climate, fostering a business-friendly environment, and improving the well-being of the population in the Namangan region. The meeting highlighted significant economic achievements over the past ten months and outlined ambitious plans for the future.
In 2024, Namangan region implemented 681 projects, generating 21,000 jobs. The total production output exceeded 21 trillion UZS, with $702 million worth of goods exported. The region’s economy is projected to grow by 8% by year-end.
Looking ahead, the President emphasized the need to establish clear goals for 2025. To support this effort, working groups are being deployed to districts to gather proposals from entrepreneurs and devise actionable plans.
Opportunities for 182 new projects valued at $527 million have been identified, including:
- Barkamol Avlod Mahalla, Namangan City: Expansion of a small industrial zone to accommodate a $60 million leather and footwear enterprise.
- Mingbulak District: Establishment of an industrial zone worth $25 million.
- Pap District: A collaboration with American partners to invest $80 million in processing 1.8 million tons of fluorite stone annually, creating 200 jobs and enabling $70 million in exports.
- Medicinal Plant Cultivation and Tourism: A $40 million investment for cultivating medicinal plants, producing confectionery items, and developing a tourist center.
Agricultural opportunities were also discussed, including rice and grain cultivation on groundwater-fed lands, fish farming near drainage wells in Norin district, and the potential for raising 100,000 livestock with improved irrigation in Chorkesar, Zarkent, and Isparan.
The Yangikurgan Agricultural College and Potato Center will introduce dual education programs, training specialists and producing essential food products. Collaboration with local beekeeping farms aims to support household beekeeping initiatives, providing additional income for families.
Namangan’s Hokim presented a comprehensive 2025 development plan, targeting $4.2 billion in investments, 34,000 new jobs, and $1 billion in exports. These efforts aim to reduce poverty in the region from 8% in 2024 to 5.3% in 2025, lifting 78,000 people out of poverty. Additionally, 100,000 returning labor migrants will be employed domestically.
President Mirziyoyev instructed authorities to support entrepreneurial initiatives, ensure funding for industrial infrastructure, and accelerate project implementation in small industrial zones. Emphasis was placed on fostering entrepreneurship, boosting employment, and strengthening the region’s economic resilience.
