Jakarta, December 2, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, in partnership with Microsoft, has unveiled elevAIte Indonesia, an ambitious program aimed at enhancing the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of Indonesian citizens. The initiative, announced during a launch event in Jakarta on Monday, is designed to promote inclusive AI education across all societal levels.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid expressed her enthusiasm for the program’s potential to foster a digitally skilled population. “Providing AI training for one million individuals is the key to ensuring Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global scene of the digital economy,” she stated.
Hafid emphasized the importance of equipping civil servants with AI knowledge to bolster public support for the nation’s digital transformation. She highlighted the program’s objective to train one million participants within its first year, calling it a cornerstone for Indonesia’s future in the global digital economy.
Microsoft Indonesia President Dharma Simorangkir echoed the sentiment, stating that elevAIte Indonesia aims to align government, industry, educational institutions, and communities to maximize the benefits of AI for all Indonesians. “It is time for Indonesia to make the most of AI. All people in Indonesia deserve access to AI capabilities,” he said.
Microsoft ASEAN President Andrea Della Mattea highlighted the significant economic potential of AI, projecting that it could contribute over USD 366 billion to Indonesia’s GDP by 2030. “To realize this, Indonesia must cultivate a robust pipeline of talent skilled in digital technologies like AI,” she noted.
Della Mattea also praised Microsoft’s role in facilitating collaboration among ministries, agencies, organizations, and educational institutions to advance digital skills development across the nation.
The elevAIte Indonesia initiative is set to play a pivotal role in strengthening Indonesia’s digital economy and fostering a technologically proficient workforce ready to shape the nation’s future.
