Washington, March 6, 2025 – The Europe Today: The United States has paused its military aid to Ukraine while reviewing whether to continue the support, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt announced during a press conference on Wednesday.
When asked if the aid freeze was permanent, Leavitt stated that the National Security Council (NSC) had informed her that they were either pausing or reconsidering funding for Ukraine. Upon further questioning, she clarified, “It’s a pause for a review.”
The decision follows a heated exchange between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a recent meeting. Reports suggest that the discussion escalated into a shouting match, after which Trump accused Zelensky of not genuinely pursuing peace with Russia but rather seeking to keep Washington engaged in the conflict.
This pause in US military assistance could significantly impact Ukraine, which has been heavily reliant on Western support since the escalation of the conflict in 2022. The move also raises further concerns regarding Kyiv’s ability to sustain its defense efforts without continued American backing.
The situation remains under review, with no official confirmation on when or if the US will resume aid to Ukraine.
