Andijan, April 16, 2025 — The Europe Today: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a festive public celebration held in the “Yangi O‘zbekiston” Park in Andijan on April 15, where he engaged with youth, local residents, and representatives of various nationalities. The event underscored Uzbekistan’s commitment to inclusive development, youth empowerment, and the preservation of national identity and harmony.
During his interaction with young people, the President reaffirmed the government’s strong focus on youth policy as a central pillar of national progress.
“One of the main priorities of our state is youth policy. Everything we do in education, mahallas, employment, and sports is for our children’s benefit,” President Mirziyoyev stated. “The youth of Uzbekistan are talented and capable. But when does talent flourish? When there is effort. Those who strive for knowledge and work on themselves will never be left without a purpose. Learn, grow, and master modern professions. To be happy tomorrow, you must lay the foundation today.”
The Head of state also held a meeting with representatives of various ethnic communities residing in Andijan, stressing the importance of interethnic harmony and unity as a cornerstone of the country’s development.
The celebration featured a vibrant concert at the park’s amphitheater, where President Mirziyoyev addressed the public and expressed his deep appreciation for the people of Andijan.
“The primary goal of the reforms being carried out in the New Uzbekistan is to ensure the rights, interests, and dignity of every individual and the entire people – and, on that basis, to enhance people’s satisfaction with their lives. We can see the tangible results of these large-scale and noble efforts across all regions, villages, and communities of our homeland, which brings us joy,” he noted.
The President highlighted the Andijan region as a vivid example of successful reforms, noting advancements in industry, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and infrastructure development aimed at improving living standards.
“In Andijan, the idea and spirit of the New Uzbekistan are reaching every mahalla, every family. This is the greatest and most important outcome of the reforms – the result that we and our people have long awaited,” the President emphasized.
He also spoke about major projects underway in the region, including the establishment of a new city and the rapid development of the “Yangi O‘zbekiston” Park. Reflecting on the region’s rich historical heritage, President Mirziyoyev proposed naming the new city after Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, the famed poet, statesman, and founder of the Mughal Empire—an idea warmly welcomed by local residents.
“Babur Mirzo was a worthy successor of the Timurid Renaissance, a great figure – a patron of science, culture, art, literature, and human talent. His unique legacy brought global recognition to our nation. The construction of a city bearing his name will serve as a symbolic realization of the dream of our great ancestor,” he said.
According to the President, the newly proposed city—Babur City—will be home to a modern educational cluster, including kindergartens, schools, a university, a museum, a library, and an IT park. A world-class international sports complex will also be built as part of the university infrastructure.
Babur City is envisioned as a vibrant spiritual and cultural center, blending national heritage with cutting-edge technologies. A new monument honoring Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur will be erected at the park’s highest point, serving as a beacon of inspiration for future generations.
To support the realization of these ambitions, a special program will be adopted, with $250 million in allocated funding.
“As we know, wherever in the world Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur found himself, in whichever country he lived, he always longed for his native land. I believe you will agree that today, the dream of our great ancestor has come true – it is as if he has returned home. I congratulate all of us on this historic occasion!” the President declared.
In conclusion, President Mirziyoyev extended warm congratulations to culture and art workers on their professional holiday, celebrated annually on April 15, recognizing their vital contributions to the cultural enrichment and spiritual life of the nation.
