Paris, April 25, 2025 – The Europe Today: France reaffirmed its commitment to a diplomatic resolution of Iran’s nuclear issue and signaled its willingness to re-engage in dialogue with Tehran, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Christophe Lemoine.
Speaking at a weekly press briefing in Paris on Thursday, Lemoine stated that France continues to support a negotiated solution to the Iranian nuclear file and stands ready to resume discussions with the Iranian side. His remarks came in response to a recent tweet by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who extended an invitation to the European troika—France, Germany, and the United Kingdom—to return to the path of diplomacy.
In his message, Araqchi described the current impasse as a “lose-lose” situation and emphasized the need for constructive engagement. “Iran’s relations with the E3 have experienced ups and downs in recent history. Like it or not, they are currently down. Why? Each side has its own narrative. To me, placing blame is a futile exercise,” he wrote.
Lemoine’s comments reflect Paris’s ongoing interest in reviving diplomatic efforts amid rising tensions and growing concerns over Iran’s nuclear program. France, along with its European partners, has played a key role in past negotiations, including the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), from which the United States withdrew in 2018.
The French spokesperson underscored the importance of re-establishing trust and dialogue to prevent further escalation and safeguard regional and international security.
