The event brought together Kevin Hamilton, ambassadors and military representatives from NATO member and partner countries, as well as senior officials of North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Addressing the reception, Jafar Huseynzade said the anniversary pays tribute to the dedication and service of Azerbaijan’s armed forces while underscoring the significance of independence, sovereignty, and strong state institutions.

He noted that the military reforms initiated by Heydar Aliyev have been successfully continued under Ilham Aliyev, contributing to the restoration of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also emphasized that Azerbaijan and NATO have developed a partnership based on mutual respect and shared interests over more than three decades. He highlighted Azerbaijan’s contributions to NATO-led missions in Kosovo and Afghanistan, as well as its role in enhancing regional energy security and strengthening Eurasian transport connectivity.

Speaking at the event, Ramil Hasanov outlined the evolution of Azerbaijan’s armed forces and reviewed key areas of military cooperation with the Alliance.

Kevin Hamilton described Azerbaijan as a reliable and valuable NATO partner, noting that the long-standing partnership has played an important role in the professionalization and modernization of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

He commended Azerbaijan’s contributions to NATO operations, particularly in Afghanistan, and expressed appreciation for Baku’s support during the allied evacuation mission, noting that Azerbaijan was the last partner country to conclude its presence in Afghanistan.

Hamilton also praised Azerbaijan’s contribution to the energy security of NATO member states and welcomed recent progress toward peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, describing the developments as an important step toward enhancing regional stability.
