The Hague, July 8, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijani and Dutch parliamentarians held a series of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in The Hague, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and expanding bilateral relations.
The Azerbaijani delegation, led by Gaya Mammadov, head of the delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and head of the Working Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with the Netherlands, held talks with senior Dutch parliamentary officials, including Speaker of the Dutch Senate Mei Li Vos and Speaker of the House of Representatives Thom van Campen.
The delegation, which also included Sevinj Fataliyeva, Azay Guliyev, and Tural Ganjaliyev, later participated in an expanded meeting with members of the foreign relations committees of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, chaired by First Vice-President of the Senate Boris Dittrich.
The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-Netherlands relations, Azerbaijan’s strategic contribution to Europe’s energy security and transport-logistics corridors, regional developments, the post-conflict transition, and ongoing efforts to advance the peace agenda.
Both sides underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting mutual understanding and strengthening bilateral ties, while emphasizing the need to maintain regular dialogue between the two legislatures.
During the session, the Azerbaijani delegation also met with The Hague Mayor Jan van Zanen, who shared positive impressions from his recent visit to Baku to participate in the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum.
The meetings reflected the shared commitment of Azerbaijan and the Netherlands to enhancing parliamentary engagement and broadening cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
