Ukraine Emerges as Europe’s Technology Leader: Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy

Kyiv, January 24, 2026 – The Europe Today: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed confidence on Friday that Ukraine has made remarkable technological advancements during the ongoing conflict with Russia, asserting that the country now leads Europe in technology.

Speaking at the second national Forum of Talented Youth in Kyiv, Zelenskyy highlighted the role of innovation in strengthening both military and civilian capacities. “During the war, Ukraine has grown significantly in technology. We are number one in Europe, that’s a fact,” he said, according to media reports.

The President emphasized that technologies developed for the frontline will continue to benefit civilian life in peacetime. “The same frontline medicine will work exclusively for the civilian sector after the war,” he added.

Zelenskyy also noted Ukraine’s leadership in drone production and electronic warfare systems, indicating a shift away from traditional artillery due to the technological nature of the conflict. “We are already abandoning artillery, which was very necessary yesterday, due to the technological nature of this war,” he said.

He further remarked on the effectiveness of Ukraine’s technological capabilities, stating that drones account for 90% of the losses suffered by the enemy.

The remarks underline Ukraine’s strategic focus on innovation and technology as central to both its defence efforts and future post-war reconstruction.
