Baku, June 15, 2026 – The Europe Today: The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, is expected to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan, during which the two sides intend to sign several bilateral documents aimed at strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors.
The announcement was made by the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan, Gurbanmammet Elyasov, while addressing the international conference titled “Regional Contribution to Global Security: Peacebuilding in the South Caucasus” held in Baku. The report was carried by the Azerbaijan State News Agency AZERTAC on Monday.
According to the diplomat, a number of agreements are expected to be signed during the upcoming presidential visit, which he said will make a significant contribution to the expansion of bilateral cooperation and further development of relations between the two countries.
Elyasov noted that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan continue to deepen cooperation in political, trade-economic, transport-logistics, and cultural-humanitarian fields, reflecting a steady trajectory of strengthening partnership between the two nations.
He further highlighted recent high-level engagements, including the reception of Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture Adil Karimli by the President of Turkmenistan earlier in June, as well as a meeting in May between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov in Ashgabat.
