Dushanbe, August 03, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Culture Day of Rasht District was celebrated in a festive atmosphere at Iram Park in Dushanbe on Sunday, highlighting the district’s socio-economic progress and rich cultural heritage achieved during Tajikistan’s years of independence.
The event brought together representatives of government institutions, guests, and residents of the capital, who toured exhibitions showcasing Rasht District’s development accomplishments and expressed appreciation for its cultural and economic progress.
Speakers at the event emphasized that, under the leadership of President Emomali Rahmon, Tajikistan’s remote regions have witnessed steady development and modernization, driven by the country’s independence and ongoing state development policies.
Visitors explored a wide range of exhibits featuring the district’s social, economic, and cultural achievements. Displays of agricultural products, traditional handicrafts, national cuisine, and vibrant cultural performances attracted significant public interest throughout the day.
All township and village communities from Rasht District participated in the exhibition and sales fair, presenting locally produced goods, handcrafted items, and traditional products in specially decorated pavilions, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the district’s rich artisanal traditions.
Organizers highlighted that Rasht District is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,300 metres above sea level and enjoys a moderate climate. The district’s fertile brown soils provide favourable conditions for crop cultivation, while agriculture remains the backbone of the local economy, with nearly 89.2 percent of its population residing in rural areas.
The event also promoted Rasht District’s tourism potential, noting that domestic and international visitors are increasingly drawn to its scenic attractions, including the Kamarob Valley and the villages of Yasmin and Hoit, which have become popular destinations for nature and cultural tourism.
The Culture Day celebration formed part of ongoing efforts to promote regional heritage, strengthen national unity, and showcase the diverse cultural and economic achievements of Tajikistan’s regions.
