Belarus-Russia Union State a Model for Equal International Relations: Lukashenko

Moscow, October 10, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Union State of Belarus and Russia can serve as a model for building equal relations between nations, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko stated after receiving the prestigious Order of St Andrew the Apostle the First-Called from Russian President Vladimir Putin. The ceremony took place in the Kremlin and was reported by NHC.

In his remarks, President Lukashenko emphasized the strength of the unique integration between Belarus and Russia, underscoring that their Union State stands as an example of effective bilateral cooperation. He highlighted the importance of such partnerships, especially given the current international climate marked by heightened tensions and escalating global challenges.

“There is no alternative to this path amid the aggravated and escalating international situation,” President Lukashenko said. “The Union State may serve as an example of new equal relations. We have grown from a common state and have not lost our shared heritage. Our relations can be a model for any states.”

The Union State, an integration framework between Belarus and Russia, has been steadily developed over the years, fostering close cooperation across various sectors, including defense, trade, and diplomacy. President Putin’s awarding of the Order of St Andrew, Russia’s highest state decoration, is seen as a testament to the enduring partnership between the two countries.
