Baku, February 11, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Marko Štucin, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international security matters.
Minister Bayramov recalled his recent meeting with Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon on the sidelines of the 31st OSCE Ministerial Council, emphasizing the importance of such engagements in strengthening diplomatic dialogue and fostering collaboration. He also highlighted Azerbaijan’s participation at the Bled Strategic Forum, noting its role as a vital platform for exchanges between officials, think tanks, and media representatives.
The discussions underscored the potential for enhanced cooperation in energy security, trade, business, transport, and communications. Both sides acknowledged Azerbaijan’s strategic role in the Middle Corridor and its contributions to regional connectivity.
In addition, the meeting addressed joint efforts in education and humanitarian initiatives. Minister Bayramov paid tribute to Azerbaijani compatriots who contributed to Slovenia’s liberation during World War II, particularly the heroic role of Mehdi Huseynzade (Mikhaylo), as a foundation for historical ties between the two nations.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister also provided insights into the post-conflict reconstruction efforts in liberated territories, including large-scale rebuilding projects and ongoing demining operations. He reiterated Azerbaijan’s commitment to peace and regional stability, while also highlighting concerns over Armenia’s territorial claims in its constitution and its continued military buildup, which he described as a challenge to lasting peace efforts.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and exchanged views on other areas of mutual interest.
