Bangkok, October 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phạm Việt Hùng has expressed confidence that the Vietnam–Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to expand and deepen, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development both regionally and globally.
Speaking at a ceremony on October 9 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, Ambassador Hùng highlighted Vietnam’s remarkable transformation over the past decades—from a war-torn nation to a dynamic, fast-growing economy with a GDP exceeding US$476 billion in 2024. He noted significant improvements in living standards, education, and cultural development, underscoring the country’s progress on the global stage.
The ambassador emphasized that Vietnam now maintains diplomatic relations with all 193 UN member states, has served twice as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and continues to contribute military and police personnel to UN peacekeeping operations.
Reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment to addressing global challenges, he announced that the country will host the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime Signing Ceremony and High-Level Summit in Hanoi from October 25–26, reflecting its growing role in international cooperation and digital security governance.

Also attending the event, Thai Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Vijavat Isarabhakdi hailed the deep-rooted and enduring friendship between Thailand and Vietnam, noting that both governments have worked closely over the decades to advance comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation.
He underlined that this long-standing partnership is vital to the peace and prosperity of the Mekong subregion and ASEAN as a whole, highlighting the shared commitment to promoting stability, connectivity, and sustainable growth.
Vijavat emphasized that the recent upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership reflects the strong determination of both countries’ leaders to enhance strategic dialogue, broaden economic and social collaboration, and foster mutual understanding.
